Ian Main is a Nephrologist specialising in Renal Medicine .

Ian Main graduated with honours from Monash university in 1980. He trained as a renal physician in Brisbane and Melbourne before gaining further experience in the U.K. He has been a consultant nephrologist at Monash medical centre since 1990 and continues in that role. For 25

years he held consultant positions at Eastern Health including as head of a general medical unit and as an intensive care physician. He still provides both general and renal medical care in a busy private practice at Knox Private Hospital. His current interest is in the diagnosis and management of patients with impaired kidney function with the aim of preservation of renal function.
