Mr James Chiu - Shoulder and Knee Surgery

MBBS FRACS (orth.) F.A.Orth.A. 

 

Mr James Chiu is a highly qualified and fellowship trained Australian orthopaedic surgeon. He has particular expertise and sub-specialty interests in shoulder and knee surgery. He is multi-lingual and able to converse in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Shanghainese.

 

He is a member of the University of Melbourne alumni, having obtained his MBBS in 2001. He subsequently was awarded his fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2011. 

He has further increased his expertise and competency in orthopaedic surgery with international fellowships in North America and France, in the fields of orthopaedic sports medicine reconstruction, upper extremity reconstruction, arthroscopy and arthroplasty. Whilst in North America, he was one of the Team Physicians for the National Hockey League teams, Winnipeg Jets, and the Canadian Football League team, Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Providing excellent patient care and surgical outcomes is of the utmost importance to him.

        Prof Minoo Patel - Shoulder Elbow and Hand Surgery

        MBBS MS FRACS PhD

         

        Prof Minoo Patel is a senior orthopaedic surgeon with more than 20 years’ experience. He specialises in Adult and Paediatric Upper Limb surgery (Shoulder, Elbow and Hand surgery), including Arthroscopy, Arthroplasty (joint replacement) and Trauma. He also specialises in Limb reconstruction, a new orthopaedic sub-specialty that deals with Limb Lengthening and Deformity Correction surgery in both adults and children.

        Prof Patel has appointments at Epworth and Cabrini Health as well as Knox Private Hospital. He has worked at the Monash Medical Centre and Monash Children’s Hospital.

        Prof Patel is adjunct Professor at RMIT University, Senior Lecturer at Monash University and Hon Research Fellow at Melbourne University. Prof Patel is the Chair of the Australian Orthopaedic Association Research Foundation. He has published over fifty journal articles and book chapters, and has over 250 academic presentations. He is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction, and is on the Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Orthopaedics. He is Fellowship Director for an AOA accredited upper limb fellowship.

        Prof Patel consults at various locations in Melbourne for your patient’s convenience. He sees all patients irrespective of insurance status including Work Cover and TAC patients. All emergencies are seen within 24 hours and referring GPs and physiotherapists have the ability to seek advice over the phone
